Zero-Knowledge Local Storage
Encrypted Secret Vault
The HideMyMessages Vault allows you to organize and store steganographic carrier drafts and decrypted secrets directly in your browser. All records are isolated in local memory—zero server databases, zero remote access.
How the Encrypted Vault Works
The Secret Vault is an integrated productivity feature designed for users who frequently encode or decode hidden messages. When you click "Save to Vault" inside any tool suite:
- Your payload, selected carrier emoji or text snippet, timestamp, and optional method tag are serialized into a clean JSON record.
- The record is written directly into your browser's private
localStoragesandbox under the keysecret-hider-vault. - No network request is dispatched. You can verify this in Chrome DevTools under the Network tab (zero HTTP POST or PUT requests).
Security Principles of Local Vault Storage
- Same-Origin Isolation: Web browsers enforce strict Same-Origin Policies (SOP). Only scripts originating from
https://www.hidemymessages.siterunning inside your browser session can read vault records. - Zero Server Access: Because we operate no backend user accounts or databases, our team cannot access, view, or restore your vault records if you clear your browser history.
- Full User Control: You can inspect individual vault items, copy their encoded output directly to your clipboard, or permanently delete items at any time.
