Legal & Security Disclosures

Legal & Cryptographic Disclaimer

HideMyMessages is an open educational and research suite designed to study Unicode typography, pixel manipulation, and browser cryptography. Please read our operational boundaries and legal disclaimers.

1. Educational & Research Purpose

HideMyMessages is engineered and published strictly for educational, scientific, research, and privacy awareness purposes. The software enables cybersecurity students, digital forensics investigators, software engineers, and privacy-conscious communicators to analyze how modern text rendering engines and image compression codecs interact with concealed data.

2. Technical Boundaries & Platform Limitations

While HideMyMessages implements rigorous client-side algorithms based on international standards (UTS #51 and W3C WebCrypto), user communication travels over third-party networks, operating systems, and messaging providers. Consequently:

3. Steganography is Not a Substitute for Cryptography

Steganography relies on concealment (security through obscurity). If an adversary discovers the steganographic algorithm or inspects the raw character code units in a debugger, an unencrypted payload is instantly readable.

For this reason, HideMyMessages strongly urges users to apply the optional AES-256-GCM passphrase whenever transmitting sensitive credentials or confidential correspondence. Cryptographic defense-in-depth guarantees that even if concealment is detected, the underlying data remains mathematically unbreakable.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

By accessing or utilizing HideMyMessages, you agree to comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws. You agree NOT to use this service to:

5. Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Under no circumstances shall the creators, maintainers, or host providers of HideMyMessages be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from data loss, corrupted payloads, transmission failures, or user misuse.
